This cruise along the River Danube uncovers impressive architecture, fascinating history and stunning scenery with an excellent range of optional excursions.

Sail from the musical city of Vienna, where there is the opportunity to explore Schonbrunn Palace and the Hofburg Palace on guided tours, to the small village of Esztergom which has many architectural treasures including the Bakocz chapel. In Budapest the superb parliament overlooks the River Danube and the Slovakian capital of Bratislava is home to some superb examples of Baroque architecture.

From the quaint village of Durnstein sail to Melk where the abbey has been home to Benedictine monks for 900 years. In the friendly city of Linz the Baroque architecture includes the remarkable St Florian Monastery.

Day 1 : UK - Vienna (Austria)

Fly from Manchester and embark your ship in Vienna and settle into your cabin. Presentation of the crew during the welcome cocktail and dinner on board this evening.

Day 2 : Vienna

This morning there is the option to visit Schonbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the imperial family, followed by a panoramic tour of Vienna. This afternoon there is the choice to visit Hofburg Palace, once the heart of imperial life, on an optional excursion. Depart tonight towards Esztergom.

Day 3 : Esztergom (Hungary) - Budapest

Arrive mid-morning in Esztergom where there is time at leisure to explore the city which was the first capital of Hungary under the Arpad dynasty. Spend the afternoon cruising towards Budapest.

Day 4 : Budapest

Take the optional guided tour of Budapest to discover Buda with its impressive Baroque buildings and Pest's mix of architectural styles. There is an optional excursion this afternoon to the Gellert Baths and Spa. Sail through the night to Bratislava.

Day 5 : Bratislava (Slovakia)

Spend this morning cruising along the Danube through majestic scenery and arrive in Bratislava late morning. This afternoon there is an optional guided tour of Bratislava, the charming capital of Slovakia, with its Baroque palaces and pleasant squares. Back on board continue cruising towards Durnstein.

Day 6 : Durnstein (Austria) - Melk

Explore the quaint town of Durnstein with its astonishing abbey, which has one of the most beautiful Baroque bell towers in Austria. Cross the Wachau Valley and arrive in Melk where there is an optional guided tour to the Benedictine Abbey of Melk.

Day 7 : Linz

Early morning arrival in Linz where there is a guided tour of the baroque St Florian Monastery in the morning, or an afternoon guided tour of the welcoming city of Linz.

Day 8 : Vienna - UK

Disembark after breakfast on board and transfer to the airport for the return flight to Manchester.
