Join your ship, Gerard Schmitter, in the quirky Dutch capital of Amsterdam for a relaxing voyage along the Dutch waterways and the legendary River Rhine, passing incredible scenery and calling at lively cities and wine-producing towns.

Take the opportunity to see the UNESCO-listed windmills of Kinderdijk, before cruising to picturesque Nijmegen, home to the Kroller-Muller Museum with masterpieces from famous painters including Van Gogh and Monet.

Explore Cologne, overlooked by an impressive Gothic cathedral, then cruise the stunning Rhine Gorge past the Lorelei Rock to the wine-producing town of Rudesheim. After a morning of scenic cruising, arrive in the city of Dusseldorf, renowned for its fashion and arts scene.

Gerard Schmitter then returns to Amsterdam for an overnight stop, ample time to see the sights at leisure.

Windmills of Kinderdijk

Day 1 : UK - Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Fly from Leeds-Bradford or Manchester to Amsterdam and embark Gerard Schmitter around 6pm. Meet the crew over a welcome cocktail. After dinner on board, there is an optional tour of the old town of Amsterdam by canal boat.

Day 2 : Kinderdijk - Nijmegen

Early morning, arrive in Kinderdijk, from where there is an optional excursion to the UNESCO-listed windmills. Kinderdijk has the largest concentration of windmills in the world. Back on board, cruise to Nijmegen. Depending on the tide, you might pass the port of Rotterdam and town of Spijkenisse. Dinner this evening is followed by entertainment.

Day 3 : Nijmegen - Cologne (Germany)

Today you can explore at leisure or join an optional excursion to the Kroller Muller Museum in the Hoge Veluwe National Park. It has a superb collection of 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures, including works by Van Gogh and Monet. There is a second optional excursion available - a guided bike ride through the Hoge Veluwe National Park. Return to the ship for lunch and cruise towards Cologne. Dinner will be followed by entertainment.

Day 4 : Cologne - Koblenz

Early morning, arrive in Cologne where there is an optional guided visit of the city. In the Old Town, admire the Town Hall, Jewish Quarter and the Romanesque Great St Martin church. Return to the ship for lunch and cruise towards Koblenz at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. It is more than 2000 years old and is home to several ancient monuments and historic buildings.

Day 5 : Rudesheim - Boppard

Scenic cruising through the dramatic Rhine Gorge past the famous Lorelei Rock. Later, arrive in the wine-producing town of Rudesheim, from where you can take the optional excursion by tourist train, with a tasting of famous regional wines and a tour of Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum. Alternatively, enjoy an optional hike through the vineyards in Rudesheim. After dinner, arrive in Boppard where there is a guided visit.

Day 6 : Boppard - Dusseldorf

This afternoon, arrive in Dusseldorf, renowned for its fashion and arts scene. An optional guided tour is available. Alternatively, take the second optional tour of Dusseldorf and the Rheinturm. Discover the upmarket shopping area of Konigsallee, the beautiful Old Town or 'Alstadt'.

Day 7 : Dusseldorf - Amsterdam (Netherlands)

This afternoon, arrive in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam where there is an optional tour or bike tour. An overnight mooring gives ample time to explore the sights at leisure. Gala dinner and evening entertainment.

Day 8 : Amsterdam - UK

After breakfast, disembark at around 9am and transfer to the airport for your return flight to Leeds-Bradford or Manchester.
