Sail from Budapest along the spectacular River Danube, through the dramatic Iron Gates and on to the legendary Black Sea.

Discover local culture with superb included shore excursions including a Hungarian Putza horse show and a home-cooked lunch with a local Croatian family. Architectural highlights include the Fortress Kalemegdan and Tito's Memorial in Belgrade, and there is the chance to discover the historical past of Veliko Tarnovo.

From Silistra, perhaps take an excursion to Varna on the Black Sea coast or visit a local village and primary school, before enjoying an overnight hotel stay in Bucharest, with guided tours around the city.

Day 1 : UK - Budapest (Hungary)

Fly from Manchester or Leeds-Bradford to Budapest. A representative will transfer you to your luxury ship. Tonight enjoy a welcome reception. (D)

Day 2 : Kalocsa

Enjoy early morning cruising to the Baroque town of Kalocsa which lies on the periphery of the great Hungarian plain and is renowned for its paprika production. Visit a Hungarian Pustza horse farm to watch a traditional horse show. (B,L,D)

Day 3 : Osijek (Croatia) - Vukovar

Today choose from a guided walking tour of Osijek or a guided cycling tour of Osijek's countryside. As a special Scenic guest, you will be invited into the home of a local family for a home cooked traditional lunch to learn about everyday life in Croatia. (B,L,D)

Day 4 : Belgrade (Serbia)

Today explore the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. Enjoy a guided tour of the city, which is home to Tito's Memorial, Fortress Kalemegdan and St Sava Church. Alternatively enjoy a leisurely bicycle ride along the banks of the Danube or join a native Belgradian for a tour of the city. There is also the opportunity to go shopping with a Chef around the local market and explore independently with Scenic Tailormade. (B,L,D)

Day 5 : Iron Gates

Be sure to have your camera ready as you cruise the spectacular Iron Gate, a narrow gorge carved by the River Danube between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains, a natural border between Serbia and Romania. This evening is your Scenic Sundowner experience - raise a toast to the end of a wonderful day and reflect on everything you've seen and experienced. (B,L,D)

Day 6 : Svistov (Bulgaria) - Rousse

From the former Roman Fortress town of Svistov, venture to Veliko Tarnovo, a city with a rich historical past. In the 14th century as the Byzantine Empire weakened, the city was the Bulgarian capital. Later, visit the village of Arbanassi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Alternatively stay on board and enjoy sailing towards Rousse. On arrival, enjoy a guided tour of this fascinating city. (B,L,D)

Day 7 : Silistra (Romania)

Enjoy a visit to Varna, the largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, take an active walk to Silistra Fort or perhaps visit a local village and primary school to learn about everyday life in Bulgaria. (B,L,D)

Day 8 : Bucharest (Romania)

This morning disembark and travel to Bucharest for an overnight hotel stay. Bucharest is a mismatch of eras with 21st century offices, French Baroque-style palaces and remains of medieval churches. Enjoy a visit to the Palace of the Parliament, the largest building in Europe, or join the guided tour of the Village Open Air Museum. (B)

Day 9 : Bucharest

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. (B)
