Day 1 : UK - Oslo (Norway) - Longyearbyen (Spitsbergen)

Fly from Manchester and explore Norway's fascinating capital, Oslo, before an evening flight to Longyearbyen. Arrive in Longyearbyen and transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 : Longyearbyen and Barentsburg

Check-out of your hotel and join an excursion showcasing the best of Longyearbyen and the surrounding area before embarking ship. It is a town of contrasts, mixing strong Arctic influences with modern amenities including art galleries, pubs and restaurants.

Days 3-5 : North West Spitsbergen National Park

The North West Corner of Spitsbergen is dotted with beautiful islands, beaches and fjords, not forgetting the majestic shapes which can be found in the drifting ice. Weather permitting, we will land and discover Svalbard's history. You will have the opportunity to see the remains of ancient blubber ovens used to render whale oil.

Days 6-8 : Eastern Svalbard Nature Reserve and South Spitsbergen National Park

Eastern Svalbard is home to the largest population of polar bears in the Svalbard archipelago so you will hopefully get the chance to see one. We'll aim to cruise to Sorgfjorden which borders the North East Spitsbergen Nature Reserve, and weather permitting, you may be able to hike in Eolsneset or embark PolarCirkel boats to explore the Hinlopen Strait area. You may also be able to visit Torellneset, home to walruses, before continuing to Edgeoya where you'll discover Kapp Lee, a fascinating sure for cultural heritage. Cruise south past Hornsund where you may be lucky enough to spot polar bears.

Day 9 : Isfjord

Isfjord is the most extensive fjord system in the archipelago. Spend the day exploring this breathtaking fjord including the magnificent U-shaped valleys where you might be lucky enough to spot a Svalbard Reindeer.

Day 10 : Longyearbyen - Oslo (Norway) - UK

Disembark ship in Longyearbyen and transfer to the airport for your flight to Oslo and on to the UK.
